Creating equitable access to nature through partnership
Fund inclusive trails and accessible visitor facilities that open up National Parks to people of all mobility levels. Help remove physical barriers and create welcoming infrastructure across Britain’s most iconic landscapes.
Help connect underrepresented communities with nature; building confidence, skills and long-term relationships with the outdoors. Deliver meaningful EDI impact through targeted, place-based initiatives.
Partner on initiatives that use nature to improve mental health, reduce isolation and create pathways for children and young people from diverse backgrounds to experience and benefit from National Parks.
For organisations with ambitious ESG and EDI commitments, improving access to nature is a powerful way to deliver measurable social value. Inclusion in the outdoors strengthens wellbeing, builds confidence and creates lasting community connection but access is not yet equal.
National Parks were established to serve people and place, yet significant barriers remain. Nearly a quarter of the UK population live with a disability or long-term health condition, but they account for only around 10% of visitors. Many others face social, cultural or practical obstacles that limit their ability to experience these landscapes.
Working across all 15 National Parks, we are removing those barriers at scale. Partners can support accessible routes and trails, inclusive visitor hubs, improved signage and information, guided experiences, community outreach and targeted engagement that builds confidence and belonging.
Together, we can create National Parks that are more inclusive, more representative and truly open to all, ensuring the benefits of nature are shared by everyone.
