Young Rangers Out West

Expansion of Young Ranger Programme to the West Coast of Cumbria, partnered with the National Trust. Our target audience would be young people 12-18yrs from West Cumbrian communities with higher than average levels of social and economic disadvantage.

The programme would consist of an intensive block of five, weekly sessions delivered within a half term period. Once participants have completed their initial 5 weeks, they are then able to take part in monthly Young Ranger sessions in the local area/western fringes of the National Park.

The programme will be ongoing for the full 4 years. Following the 4-year period (for 18yrs+) – there are volunteering opportunities via the Lake District National Parks’ Volunteer Service, The National Trust and a number of environmental charities working in the area (River’s Trusts etc) to which the young people will be signposted.
