Invest In A Viable Future For Both Wildlife & Residents
The Arun Valley Landscape Recovery Project focuses on the Lower Arun Valley in the South Downs National Park, home to highly protected sites. This special area faces pressures from climate change, development, and water quality issues. The partnership, which includes over 15 landowners, farmers, environmental organisations, and the National Park, has developed a long-term vision for the next 50 years to establish a viable future for both wildlife and residents. However, to bring this vision to life, additional funding and support are essential.
The project plans to progress with baselining, hydrology and topography modelling, water testing, and design work to ensure wildlife-rich habitat creation and restoration, balanced with food production. With the right financial backing, it aims to restore over 800 hectares of habitat, supporting diverse species and contributing to Environment Act targets. The scheme also seeks to provide income for farmers and landowners while further investing in the environment. This initiative complements the Adur River Restoration Project, maximizing benefits for wildlife and communities by connecting the two river corridors.
