Support Nature Recovery
The New Forest National Park has launched a large-scale nature restoration collaboration as part of its Re:New Nature Challenge. This initiative aims to develop a long-term nature recovery programme that extends beyond the National Park boundaries, requiring high levels of cooperation among landowners, public bodies, businesses, and the voluntary sector. Support from corporate partnerships is essential to drive these efforts forward.
The project views the National Park as five interconnected areas, each with unique landscape characteristics and needs. The next step involves creating an evidence-based strategy with specific targets for faster, more effective landscape-scale interventions.
Key goals include:
- Enhancing grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands
- Reducing flood risks
- Supporting species recovery
This initiative also aims to overcome capacity gaps by providing skilled land management support, creating land-based jobs, and improving green skills. Increased investment can unlock match funding, bringing crucial resources, knowledge, and networks to advance the project’s ambitious goals.
