Empowering Young People Through Nature
We are seeking a forward-thinking corporate partner to help us deliver Green Routes—an impactful programme that connects young people from the most deprived communities in Lancashire, Craven, Bradford, Leeds, East Cumbria, and North Yorkshire to the transformative power of nature.
This initiative specifically targets our most underserved communities facing significant barriers, including deprivation, disability, homelessness, mental health challenges, and those in alternative education provision or from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds. Working in partnership with local community organisations and charities, we aim to help those who need it most.
The Green Routes programme is delivered in three engaging sessions:
- Session 1: A visit to the young people’s local community to create a wildflower patch, building relationships and sparking a connection to nature.
- Session 2: A tree planting day, where participants contribute to their local environment while learning the importance of sustainability.
- Session 3: A Malham Circular walk, incorporating wellbeing activities to help young people reflect, connect with nature, and engage with peers in a calming, inspiring setting.
The project culminates in follow-on sessions, including a ‘Big Day Out’, bringing participants together for a shared experience and strengthening their sense of community and purpose.
Delivery is in partnership with the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust who will match fund the contribution provided.
