Levy and RegenFutureCo

Supporting projects that regenerate ecosystems, strengthen communities and deliver measurable social and environmental impact.

Supporting Nature Restoration

Through the Living System Fund, developed by Levy in partnership with RegenFutureCo, significant investment is being directed into practical nature restoration across the UK National Parks.

With a £500,000 commitment in 2026, the fund supports projects that regenerate ecosystems, strengthen communities and deliver measurable social and environmental impact. One of the first initiatives supported is Grubs Up! in the North York Moors National Park, a landscape-scale programme restoring habitats for pollinators and invertebrates.

Key Objectives

  • Restore and reconnect habitats for pollinators and invertebrates
  • Scale up landscape-level nature recovery across the North York Moors National Park
  • Invest in regenerative approaches linked to food, farming and hospitality systems
  • Deliver measurable environmental, social and community impact

The Challenge

Pollinators and other invertebrates are critical to healthy ecosystems, food production and resilient landscapes. However, habitat loss and fragmentation have contributed to widespread biodiversity decline across the UK.

Addressing this challenge requires more than isolated projects. It demands coordinated, landscape-scale action and long-term investment in living systems, particularly in areas closely connected to food, farming and hospitality supply chains.

There is also a growing need to move beyond short-term sustainability commitments towards meaningful, on-the-ground restoration that delivers lasting environmental and community outcomes.

The Solution

The Living System Fund was created to tackle the root causes of environmental degradation by investing directly in ecosystem restoration across land and water.

In its first year, the fund supports seven projects across the UK. Within the North York Moors National Park and the neighbouring Howardian Hills National Landscape, funding is accelerating the Grubs Up! initiative, a collaborative project working with parish councils, landowners and community groups to restore and reconnect habitats.

The project focuses on creating and enhancing wildflower meadows, ponds, orchards and other vital habitats to establish connected corridors for pollinators and invertebrates. By strengthening ecological connectivity at a landscape scale, the initiative supports biodiversity recovery while empowering local communities to take action for nature.

The fund draws inspiration from the award-winning Biohub Living Lab in North Yorkshire — a regenerative agriculture “testbed” project co-sponsored by Levy since 2022. The Biohub demonstrates how ecological restoration, food production and community learning can work together to generate tangible environmental and social benefits.

The Impact

Support from the Living System Fund enables the expansion of habitat restoration across the North York Moors National Park, accelerating the creation of wildflower meadows, ponds and orchards that provide essential resources for pollinators.

The partnership strengthens ecological networks across the landscape while unlocking new community-led initiatives. Parish councils, landowners and local groups are actively contributing ideas and action, translating investment into tangible benefits for both nature and people.

By aligning hospitality, regenerative agriculture and conservation, the Living System Fund demonstrates how purpose-driven investment can move beyond ambition to deliver practical, lasting change across the National Parks.

Partner Perspectives

“At Levy, we’ve already seen what’s possible when partnerships are rooted in purpose and backed with real commitment. Change only happens when we put our money where our mouth is, when we move beyond statements into genuine collaboration and meaningful investment. That is how we create lasting, positive impact for people and planet. I’m genuinely excited to see the tangible restoration, the community benefits, and the social impact these Living System Fund projects will deliver."
Jon Davies, Levy CEO
“We developed the Living System Fund to address the root causes of environmental degradation, nurture biodiversity and strengthen community resilience. It is more important than ever to invest in living systems, across both land and water. This holistic approach moves beyond tick-box sustainability and supports real, lasting change — ensuring a thriving planet for generations to come.”
Dr Vincent Walsh, founder of the Biohub and Managing Director of RegenFutureCo
“This funding is a powerful vote of confidence in what Grubs Up! is already achieving on the ground. Thanks to support from the Living System Fund, we’re not only connecting habitats for nature – including wildflower meadows, ponds and orchards – but also building the momentum needed to go even further. Parish councils, community groups and landowners are actively coming forward with new ideas, and this investment allows us to turn that enthusiasm into real benefits for pollinators and people alike.”
Briony Fox, Director of Conservation and Climate Change at the North York Moors National Park Authority
