In a landmark three-year partnership, Vodafone UK and National Parks are working together to harness AI and cutting-edge technology to support biodiversity, connect people with the natural world, and ensure the sustainability of the UK’s most treasured landscapes. The collaboration seeks to modernise conservation efforts while enhancing public engagement with nature.
In July 2026, Vodafone launched the creative ‘The Stick’ campaign, to encourage families everywhere to swap screen time for green time. The campaign came with a free digital ‘Stick-ionary’ guide, packed with ideas to inspire outdoor play and exploration.

Despite the clear physical, mental, and emotional health benefits associated with spending time in nature, only 8%* of UK residents engage with it daily, and just 21%* feel strongly connected to it. Barriers such as time constraints, lack of companionship, and insufficient access persist. Meanwhile, environmental degradation and biodiversity loss continue across the UK’s protected landscapes, with habitat fragmentation and declining species posing urgent threats. National Parks face significant hurdles in accessing timely, high-quality data to inform conservation and management strategies.
